CAMS is a major new initiative of Master Builders to improve apprenticeship completions and enhance career opportunities in the building and construction industry.
CAMS offers a comprehensive, nationally co-ordinated approach to supporting construction apprentices:
The key elements of CAMS are:
• Online Resource Materials, with information for current and prospective apprentices, news and FAQs, moderated chatrooms, and links to social networking;
• Telephone, email and face-to-face advice for apprentices and employers by full-time Apprenticeship Engagement Officers;
• A Volunteer Apprenticeship Mentoring Program to match apprentices to leading industry practitioners for ongoing one-on-one support;
• Supporting ‘out-of-trade’ (i.e. unemployed) apprentices through transitional training, continued mentoring support and subsidised work placements (NSW and SA pilots only); and
•Working with schools and communities to provide information about the apprenticeship pathway.
CAMS is supported by the Commonwealth Government through the Apprenticeship Mentoring Package.
